FAQ & Customer Service

Do you accept custom orders?

Right now the custom order list is closed. Check back with me after Sock Summit!

Generally I am happy to accept custom orders whenever there is space in my dye rotation. Please contact me to initiate the process or for more information. I love hearing from customers.

I fell in love with a color that is sold out. Will you dye it again?

Perhaps! Feel free to drop me a line to ask about specific colorways. I do have formulas for many of my colorways except for the Serendipity Skeins™.

So what are Serendipity Skeins™ then?

Serendipity Skeins™ are one-of-a-kind colorways. They are either skeins created with colors remaining from a previous session or they are guinea pigs for a new colorway. Either way they will never be exactly duplicated. A bit of this with a dash of that -- whatever comes out of the pot is pure serendipity.

Do your yarns have dye lots?

Yes, all of my yarns have dye lots. Please make sure to order enough for your project at one time or contact me for a custom order if I don't have enough in stock for your project.

Will all the skeins in a single dye lot look exactly the same?

Because of the handmade nature of my yarn there are variations between and within dye lots. If you order more than one skein at a time I will only send you skeins that match well. Some colorways or dye techniques have more variability than others. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

Can I use hand dyed yarns the same way I use commercial yarns?

When knitting or crocheting projects requiring more than one skein alternate skeins every few rows to get the best distribution of color and to avoid a visible line when changing from one skein to the next.

What kind of dyes do you use?

All my yarns are dyed with professional acid dyes that are lightfast and washfast and have a low environmental impact.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or regular account payments all through PayPal.

PayPal
Do I need a PayPal account?

No, you are not required to have a PayPal account. Although if you already have a PayPal account you may use it.

How secure is your store?

This store uses PayPal for payments, and PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).

Do I have to pay sales tax?

All orders shipped to Washington state will be charged sales tax at 9.5%. I know it's a drag but I am required by law to collect it. Sales tax will be calculated automatically by PayPal for Washington state addresses only.

How long will my order take to ship?

For in stock items my goal is to have your package mailed within 24-48 hours of payment. Should there be any delay I will let you know as soon as possible. Please make sure your address in PayPal is current. For dyed-to-order items please see the product description for a shipping estimate.

Do you ship internationally?

I am happy to ship internationally. I use First Class International whenever possible. The sales price of your item(s) will be listed on the customs form. I cannot mark the item as a gift when it is a commercial sale. All customs or other charges are the buyer's responsibility. On occasion, packages can take their time in customs. Therefore international packages are not considered lost until after 5 weeks after the ship date. Please note with First Class International shipping there is no way of tracking the package. The only international shipping options that allow tracking are Global Express International, Express Mail International or Priority Mail International. I can send your package this way if you wish, but these other options are significantly more expensive.

My yarn arrived and I don't like it. What should I do?

I really hope you love your yarn but If you are unhappy with an item, please let me know how I can make it right. I know that shopping for yarn online is a much different experience than buying in person so if you have any concerns please contact me. I strive to provide you with excellent customer service and your satisfaction is extremely important. Returns and exchanges will be accepted within 14 days of delivery. Please contact me to initiate a return or exchange. Yarn must be unused and in its original, unwound condition free of odors. The buyer is responsible for shipping on returned or exchanged items. I suggest you use a trackable method of shipping as I am not responsible for missing packages. For returned items a refund will be issued through PayPal for the purchase price minus shipping charges once I have received the item in acceptable condition. Shipping costs cannot be refunded. Exchanges may be made for any in-stock item. Your replacement yarn will be shipped once I have received the original item in acceptable condition.

I am allergic to cats. Will I have a problem with your yarn?

All of my yarns are dyed in a professional studio that is smoke-free and pet-free.

My photography is done in my home. My home is smoke free but I do share my home with two cats. They generally show no interest in my yarn and it is kept in sealed containers. However if you are highly allergic please be aware that there are cats in the house. My yarn is rinsed in a wool wash before drying.
